Goats

Our adventure with Nigerian dwarf goats began as a 4H project for our children. Just like many other activities, the kids' beloved 4-H clubs were put on hold during the pandemic. We acquired two goat kids to fill this void. Two goats lead to three, and three led to nine within the first year allowing us to expand into crafty adventures in making soaps and candies.

We chose this breed for a variety of reasons: Their milk is known to have a sweeter and milder flavor than typical goat milk and it also has the highest butterfat content. Also, they are are the smallest dairy goat breed, come in a wide variety of colors, and are very personable. Our herd is registered with the American Dairy Goat Association and the American Goat Society.

Though they do require attention and twice daily milking our goats have been a never ending source of entertainment as they hop, skip, bounce, and get into all things forbidden. On occasion you can find them out for a walk on their leashes, on car rides (they especially like the Dunkin drive thru), or even hiking about in the Millstone Trails network. These outings bring a significant following as you can imagine!
