Why 2.0?

Therefore, it's not a beginning. Perhaps a cycle, new. Cyclicity is inevitable, anyway. We may touch the same point again, in a new cycle and we may renew. The 34th meeting, which was also not a meeting as such, in the sense that not everyone was standardly invited to participate, held on the evening of 28th February, was memorable in many ways, not the least of which was the reading itself -- a wonderful 2-page opinion piece by a relatively new philosopher, of whom more we read, the more we come to appreciate and associate a style enmeshed in precision. That reading, coincidentally -- and in retrospect, I'd say, fortunately, brought to surface registers that were not heard earlier, of gender oppression. And in a moment of absolute clarity, I realised, sitting among friends in far away but cleaner and awe-inspiring Gangtok a week later, that if disability becomes an excuse for gender insensitivity, then most things are not right.

Pledges therefore were taken in today's meeting (17th March, 2018) reassessing our 6-year old goals and our future. The occasion called for reading out and discussing the Preamble of the group (penned by me on May 18, 2012), select extracts of the Gender Policy of the University of Delhi, and a document that I prepared on WhatsApp etiquettes.

And then we went back to the philosopher aka Elizabeth Barnes, and read the Preface and the Introduction of her book "The Minority Body".

And I am happy to say that we have now found a safe home for our group.
