Take a designed-for-print text and recreate it as a web-based hypertext. Apply what you’ve learned in Redish and other texts we’re working through this semester to redesign a research paper, long essay, or other appropriate “born print” text you’ve written into a website.
You’re going to very literally re-mediate your essay into a website.
Your print text will:
The ideal text is a research paper or essay you wrote for a previous class.
If you cannot use something that you wrote previously, find a selection of text that is available in the public domain.
Do not write a new essay just for this assignment. One purpose of this activity is applying Ginny Redish's heurustic for converting a text designed for one medium to a different one.
I will need to approve your words in a row text selection. See the schedule for dates.
If only this were so simple as to pop your Microsoft Word document into Wordpress and et voila! A user-centered website!
Your challenge is to make your content rhetorically effective and easy for web visitors to use. Transform your paper into a document meant to be used and experienced online. Your website should also be “good web writing” based on our study of Redish and other authors.
