The main purpose of the Urban Planning and Architecture research centre is to advance conceptual, scientific, and applied understandings of Architecture, Interior design, Urbanism, Built environment and Preservation and heritage studies.

The studies are related to:

  • History, theory and criticism of architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture and interior design;

  • Inter- and multidisciplinary projects and state-of-the-art case studies in architecture, restoration, urban planning and interior design;

  • Analysis of assessment methodologies, survey techniques and intervention strategies ;

  • Development of preservation, protection, development and management strategies for architectural, urban and cultural heritage;

  • Development of new technologies and techniques of architecture and urban design;

  • Analysis of innovative and traditional materials and techniques suitable for the consolidation, strengthening and restoration of heritage buildings;

  • Analysis of education in the field of architecture, restoration, urban planning and interior design;

  • Sustainable urban planning and architecture;

  • Vulnerability and risk analysis regarding natural and human-made hazards for cultural heritage, new buildings and urban areas;

  • Development of mitigation, adaptation and management of natural and human-made hazard consequences;

  • Non-destructive testing, inspection, monitoring and laboratory testing;

  • Experimental, analytical and numerical approaches in architecture, urban planning and structural design.
