We are all so much better at technology. What tools just keep working right in this brave new world?
Daniel O’Connell will share Google slides that he embeds in Canvas pages to add some zing to home pages, discussions, grammar exercises, class portraits, and whatever you can imagine.
Kurt will introduce an app that groups and re-groups students in useful ways..
Rick will demonstrate some of the features on Canvas that allow creation of interactive content designed to encourage students to return to Canvas after a Zoom session and review what was covered.

Are you in need of some fun collegial collaboration? In this workshop, you won't be asked to join a committee, double-check your SLOs, or clean your classroom. Relax and have fun! You deserve it. If you laugh, smile, or get a creative jolt we've hit the jackpot.
This workshop requires full participation with video on. Because it's very interactive and it's important that Lori be able to see all participants on her Zoom screen, we're limiting participation to 15 participants.

Bo and Daya will each present highlights from their favorite sessions and what got them excited at this year's TESOL gathering.

Project SHINE Roundtable: The Present and Future of Student Coaching

Project SHINE, a collaboration between San Francisco State University and CCSF, has been placing student coaches in noncredit ESL classes for over 25 years, and in the process has helped thousands of immigrant learners in the Bay Area to meet their language learning and naturalization goals. In this roundtable presentation, Project SHINE leaders will briefly recount the history of the program, and coaches, learners, and teachers will share their experiences with the program. Then we will discuss visions for the program’s future.

Now that many of us are back in person, dance is one fun way to build classroom community. Carolyn will demonstrate (with participant help) how teaching a line dance or folk dance can open up all kinds of connection, laughter and vocabulary. (Think "forward, back, under, over, stomp, slide, swing and funky")

The ESL Colloquium is a small conference where the CCSF ESL faculty comes together to share their research and findings of the field of study of English as a Second/Foreign Language. It is also an academic exchange of pedagogies, theoretical practices, policy, and all things related to English language acquisition.
This event is open to ESL professionals.
