1st/2nd Grade

The following is an outline of the skills each student will experience throughout the year of PE!!

    • Opening Expectations
            • How to start and stop on a signal (Hey Team, Hey Coach!)
            • Opening Routines to come into the classroom (Laps around the gym)
            • 4 point class incentive process (20 points within 6 classes = class game choice)
    • Body control and Multiple Pathways
            • Moving around the gym with eyes forward
            • Performing High, Medium and Low Level movements and body balances with student choice
            • Moving and controlling an object
    • Chasing and Fleeing
            • Tag games to reinforce body control
            • Safe tagging with noodles
    • Locomotor Movements
            • Students will be able to perform a mature pattern of the following locomotor movements: Hopping, Jumping, Running, Sliding, Skipping, galloping
            • Being able to transfer body weight when moving
    • Underhand Throwing
            • Using a low level start
            • Stepping with the opposite foot
            • throwing accurately towards a partner/target
    • Overhand Throw
            • Learn and understand the 5 steps to an overhand throw
            • Be able to perform 2 out of the 5 steps on the overhand throw
            • Be able to use this skill in a dynamic, game setting
    • Foot/Eye coordination
            • Attempts to use inside part of foot when striking ball
            • Performs activities in both an individual and partner setting
            • Can be consistently in control of the ball
            • Can understand and attempt a punt
    • Striking
            • Striking balloons in an individual setting in a high, medium and low level
            • Using multiple body parts to strike object
            • Use these skills in a partner setting
    • Catching
      • Being able to understand the 4 step process
            • Eye contact
            • Hands out
            • Squeeze
            • Bring object to chest
      • Being able to consistently do 3 out of the 4 steps
    • Gymnastics
            • Tumbling on a cheese mat, using a spring board.
            • Individual and partner balance activities
            • Balance beam
    • Bowling
            • Working within a group setting
            • Attempting to roll ball from low level position towards pins
            • Try and go from the edge of the mat (furthest point away)
            • 3 step bowl
