The UVNSS values progressive discussions to further promote a safe community for all.

The British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM) is the regulatory college for Registered Nurses (RNs), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and Registered Midwives (RMs) in BC. They develop the Professional Standards, determine Scope of Practice, and set the Standards of Practice. This comprises the legal obligation of nurses to the public. The BCCNM ensures that nurses are properly educated and registered with all the requisite skills and abilities to protect the public.
The BC Nurses' Union (BCNU) supports nurses by speaking up and speaking out for safe, quality, public health care. They negotiate wages for nurses in BC and ensure safe working environments for nurses (e.g., safe nurse:patient ratios).
The Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) is the national voice of nursing in Canada. They develop the Code of Ethics, advance the nursing profession, and provide leadership in nursing.
