Below are summer school options offered through Chamblee, Dekalb County, and other accredited programs available to you. Please email or meet with your counselor before the end of the school year to discuss summer school options that are right for you. FLEX Academy Summer School Opportunities
DeKalb County School District is pleased to announce FLEX Academy Summer options for summer of 2025.
Option One: FLEX Restore Credit Recovery
FLEX Restore Summer Credit Recovery will be offered to students in grades 9 -12. Students in grades 9-11, who have attempted the course and earned a 55-69, are eligible to register for credit recovery courses. Note: Cohort 2025 students, who attempted the course and earned a 40-69, are eligible to register for credit recovery courses. Students may take up to two Carnegie units.
FLEX Restore courses are abbreviated credit recovery courses and thus not NCAA approved. Students enrolled in FLEX Credit Recovery will participate in asynchronous instruction daily. Students who do not successfully complete these courses or fail to login daily will be dropped from the course.

Option Two: FLEX Academy Summer School
FLEX Academy will offer initial credit courses for DCSD students. These are full credit length courses (part A & part B). FLEX Academy Summer School instructors will utilize the DeKalb County School District curriculum and resources for daily instruction. Students taking classes for initial credit are expected to participate in live sessions via computer or Chromebook with reliable internet access to log in, engage, and complete online course work. Students can take one Carnegie unit through FLEX Academy Summer School.
Students who are unsuccessful in FLEX courses will receive a final failing grade on their transcript, which will impact their GPA.

How to Register:
Students/parents should contact their counselor to begin the advisement/registration process. Students cannot self register online for FLEX Academy summer school.
Review, sign, and return the appropriate student/parent agreement below to your assigned counselor, preferably by May 23, 2025 or ASAP before classes fill up.
When returning the student/parent agreement, please include your student name, student number, course requested, parent name, email address and phone number.

All FLEX Summer School courses will be accessed through Canvas.
Step 1: Login using student’s S# and password.
Step 2: Access CLEVER using the gold rocket icon.
Step 3: Select the Canvas icon depicted below.
Step 4: Select course(s) from the dashboard to obtain course information and the class link.
Face to Face Summer School Session at CHS
Dates: June 9-June 27, 2025

How to Register: Parent, check your emails. Return the signed paperwork to Mr. Renaldo in the Front Office by May 16, 2025.
How does it work: The summer credit recovery program is based on seat time. Therefore, in order to earn .5 credit, a student must successfully complete 60 hours worth of work. Bus transportation to and from CHS will be provided for each student participating in the program. In order for your child to be considered for transportation, you must return the signed form by May 16, 2025. Breakfast and a sack lunch will be provided.
If the student is an athlete, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) may require approval for Credit Recovery nontraditional course credit. Further information can be found at NCAA.org
OTHER APPROVED SUMMER SCHOOL OPTIONS
*The programs listed below are not offered through the DeKalb County School District.*
NOTE: All summer school courses must be completed by July 30, 2025. Students must submit a transcript to their counselor in order to receive credit for summer school courses. All summer school courses MUST be approved by your counselor before enrolling.
Students can earn up to 2.0 units of credit during the summer. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Georgia Virtual School
Georgia Virtual School is a program of the Georgia Department of Education's Office of Technology Services. Georgia Virtual School provides a teacher led, virtual classroom environment. Georgia Virtual School courses are NCAA approved. During summer session, a half unit class will require about 20 hours per week of work with assignments due every weekday. Please visit the website for summer course offerings and to register.
Cost: $250 per .5 credit course.

How to Register:
Step 1: Consult with your counselor to determine which classes are appropriate for the summer.
Step 2: Create an account and register for the class at www.gavirtualschool.org.
Step 3: Make payment for class once you receive email that class has been approved.
Georgia Virtual Credit Recovery
Georgia Virtual School Credit Recovery is a 100% virtual option that allows students the opportunity to retake classes they failed with grade of 55-69.

Email your counselor to inform him/her that you have created your account, and he/she will register you for the course.
Eligibility: Must have taken and failed the course with a failing grade of 45-69.
How does it work: The courses are 100% virtual and do not have a teacher. Students should be able to work independently with good time management skills to be successful in this format.
