Costs and Fundraising

What monies we've paid:

  • $75.00/person to CCDBA to hold a block of rooms at Best Western Aquakub, Aix Les Bains, France
  • $300/paddler to CCDBA to seed race fees.

What can I expect to pay:

  • October 1 - $275.00 to AEI for accommodation package
  • February - May - Equal payments to AEI
  • Airline tickets

What have we not included in cost breakdown?

Here's a cost breakdown - it's rough, so pad it as you'd like.

  • Supporter Fee - $25/supporter (non-paddlers)
  • Uniforms and other bling - $35 - $75
  • Food - $200 - $400 ($20 - $40/day)
  • Excursions/Tours/Entertainment ($75-$150)

Should we plan to pay for everything?

Fundraising can help to lower cost.

We have qualified - now it's time to think about fundraising - here's a list of some ideas:

  • Donation letter
  • GoFundMe
  • Sell race jerseys

Benevity Causes

Last CCWC, we were fortunate enough to receive a generous donation from Missy's brother-in-law who works for Google. Google matched that donation, and doubled our award. Benevity facilitates corporate giving programs. Here is what is published on their site for our efforts for France:

IDBF Club Crew World Championships are in Aix les Bains, France, and Central Coast SurviveOars, a program of Central Coast Dragon Boat Association, has been awarded the berths in the Women's All Cancer Paddler division. To send our Survivor's race team to France and other race festivals, we need assistance in paying for racing fees and accommodations. The opportunity for we women that have faced a life-threatening disease and have lived to tell the tale provides us with strength, compassion, tenacity and camaraderie. We start our journey to a world stage of competition shell shocked but determined not to allow our cancer diagnosis to define us. Dragon boating is a sport that demands team work, courage and grit. Knowing we are on a boat with 21 other paddlers that share the experience of fighting cancer gives up more than hope, more than light, more than friendship - it gives us introspection of where we were and the path of where we want to go. We are empowered to take back our lives in a way that is both healthy and strong. Thank you for your support.
