I became the the Executive Director of the Cottage Children's Center in the fall of 2006. I was very happy to return to the non-profit sector where I had spent most of my professional career. The Cottage offers the best of everything in quality childcare.
I have worked in the Early Childhood field for the past 30 years. I attended the University of Maine in Orono where I earned my BS in Early Childhood. I have continued my education, and currently have 36 post graduate hours dedicated to Children with Special Needs & Family Relations. I am certified to teach K-8 & Special Needs.
I started my career in Maine working ten years for a non-profit CAP agency. I also was the Director of YCare at the Bangor YMCA, as well as the Director of their Summer Day Camp program which served 250 school age children at an outdoor facility. In 1987, I moved to Franklin, MA. I was Director of the Margaret Davitt Children's Center in Framingham until 1996. In 1996, I became the Director of Childcare Services for South Middlesex Opportunity Council. I supervised 6 childcare centers and 34 family homes.
In 1999, I joined KinderCare Corporation and worked as the Center Director in their Needham, Marlborough, Milford, Westwood and Sufferin, NY sites.
On a personal note, I grew up on an island off the coast of Maine. Deer Isle/Stonington continues to be my refuge. I have two grown children, Matt and Kate, and one grandson, Jack Thomas, who is the sparkle of my life. Jack attends the Cottage Toddler program where "Nana" is a very important person. My son, Matt is a manager for Back Bay Corporation, and my daughter, Kate is a Research Tech at the U Mass Worcester campus. I live in Franklin with one spoiled Himalayan cat named Cassie and my very exuberant Skye Terrier, Arthur. I enjoy traveling to Maine, playing the piano, cooking and entertaining and all forms of creative expression.
Professionally, I prefer open relationships with families. I enjoy all ages of children and love special center events. My office door is always open. I encourage everyone to stop by even just to say hello.
