Please read the following announcement from Dr. Hays (11/19/20)
Dear DSW Students, Faculty, and Staff
First, let me congratulate all of you on the successful journey through your first semester as a doctoral student. Our faculty have raved about all of you, and we have been eagerly anticipating your arrival to campus for our first Residency Intensive December 2-5th. Unfortunately, the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases in California and throughout our nation, has caused us to re-think holding our residency “in-person”. Out of an abundance of caution we have made the decision to transition our fall Residency to a completely virtual format. I know this news is disappointing, as all of us have been looking forward to establishing connections in-person. However, the DSW program remains committed to providing our students with an exceptional learning experience while keeping your health and wellbeing at the forefront.
Please note that Residency is not cancelled, and your attendance is still required. Please plan to make yourself available for the entire 4-day schedule. Also, I urge you to make arrangements to protect your time and focus and avoid distractions from work, home, or other obligations during Residency. Although you will participate in Residency virtually from your own location you should remain fully engaged. You must also adhere to the expectations of professionalism and virtual etiquette that are requirements of our DSW program.
I thank you for your ability to remain nimble as we all navigate an everchanging situation. Although we will not get to engage with one another the way we hoped this past semester has shown us that our ability to develop meaningful connections with one another cannot be hindered because of distance. You likely have many questions about what a virtual Residency might look like and how you will participate. We are currently working through the final details so please check your email frequently as you will be receiving instructions, action items, agenda and access links via email in the coming weeks.
With gratitude,
Dr. Hays
