Day 1 Tips

Students who are new to Chromebooks will need step-by-step guidance to log in and use the touchpad.

Sample Agenda for Day 1 with Chromebooks

  1. Review rules
  2. Log in
    • The first time students log in to the Chromebook they will need to enter their entire email address.
  3. Learn to use the touchpad
    • Using a touchpad can be a new experience for students. Spend some time teaching them the following:
        • One finger to move the pointer
        • Two fingers to scroll up and down
        • One finger to tap or click a link
        • Two finger tap to right click
  4. Set bookmarks
    • Ask students to set bookmarks of the sites they will frequently use in your class.
    • Students should click the link and set a bookmark.
    • This activity helps students get used to using the touchpad.
  5. Chromebook Orientation Kahoot (created by Micki Muller)
    • To finish the Chromebook orientation, review by playing this Chromebook Orientation Kahoot. It is a simple, five question Kahoot that reviews the new things they learned in the day's lesson. And it is a fun way to end the lesson.
