Journee Couture de Sousa

Medical School: Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland School of Medicine

Bio: My name is Journee Couture and I went to medical school in Ireland at the Royal College of Surgeons. Much alike many medical professionals, I love coffee and am always looking for new cafes to try. I grew up in a small town (Paris, Ontario) and am excited to make London my new home!

Matthew De Ciantis

Medical School: University of Ottawa

Bio: I was born and raised in the GTA, and completed both an undergraduate and Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences at York University, followed by a medical degree at the University of Ottawa. Outside of medicine, I am an avid Toronto sports fan (Go Leafs Go!) and love playing hockey, soccer and golf. On my spare time, I love building a good Lego set or playing video games with my friends. My Italian heritage is a big part of my identity, and that extends to the kitchen where I love learning to make traditional dishes and topping it off with the perfect shot of espresso. I am super excited to be joining the Western Anesthesia team!

Manjinder Khabra

Outside of medicine I like to spend my time playing soccer, running, hiking, and playing board games. I’m looking forward to joining the team here at Western!

Cameron Patterson

Medical School: Western University

Bio: I am a very proud London Lifer and thrilled to continue my training with Western Anesthesia. My undergraduate degrees are from the Ivey School of Business and the Western Medical Sciences program. Outside of academics, I embrace all that London offers – coaching downhill ski racing, an arms length subscription to Crossfit, singing in Amabile, and enjoying the city’s park system. I am also an avid traveller who always concludes that London is where my heart and home reside.

Kevin Song

Medical School: University of Saskatchewan

Bio: Hello! My name is Kevin Song, and I am thrilled to join the Western Anesthesiology Program as a PGY-1 resident. I grew up in Saskatoon and completed an undergraduate degree in Immunology at McGill University. Subsequently, I pursued my medical education at the University of Saskatchewan, where I developed a passion for anesthesiology and research in the field. My research throughout med school revolved around regional anesthesia and the utilization of artificial intelligence in US-guided nerve blocks.

Outside of medicine, I have a keen interest in cooking, exploring new recipes in my growing collection of cookbooks. I also enjoy exploring vintage shops, used bookstores, and board game cafes. Fun fact about me, I am an ex-competitive table tennis player so I like to stay active. These days I primarily spend time at a rock climbing gym and snowboard when possible.

Thomas Walser

Medical School: University of Calgary

Bio: My name is Thomas and I was born and raised in Thunder Bay. I completed my undergraduate degree in Life Sciences at Queen’s before doing med school in Calgary. I am incredibly excited to be back home in Ontario along with my partner, Sabrina, who matched to the EM program. I have a love of sports and all things outdoors and cannot wait to begin my journey in London (as a hopeful soon-to-be dog owner).

David Xie

Medical School: University of Manitoba

Bio: A bit about me: I’m coming from the University of Manitoba but I grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario. In my spare time I like to find new hiking trails, read a good book, play my keyboard, and fool around with my two cats.
