Canva Infographic For Michigan
Canva Infographic For Michigan
The second one provides more insight into my design skills. I was provided the opportunity to create an infographic for the organization, For Michigan, to demonstrate the voting hall to students. I also included the address and image of the hall in Holland, MI.
Context
Furthermore, I utilized the opportunity to showcase my design skills and help the organization out. The opportunity to design an infographic for a nonprofit helped me better understand Canva and make certain design choices that spread the message better. My position was that I was the designer. I implemented revisions suggested by my higher-ups to improve the design. I only had a couple of days to think about and execute this project. I first researched Holland to ensure I did not miss any potential voters’ polling locations. From there, I included an image of Holland’s clerk’s office and the address.
Steps taken
My project essentially entailed me doing the following:
1. Research Holland and the available polling locations.
2. Deciding the theme of the infographic: American Colors to represent the 2024 presidential election.
3. I put the For Michigan logo above the content.
4. I placed the words “Vote Early at the Clerk’s Office,” below that I mentioned “Students living in the city of Holland can vote early and register at Holland City Hall.
5. I included a screenshot of where the polling location is on a map, the address, and their hours.
Outcomes
I’m not 100% sure what changed because of my specific project. I do hope more students turned out to vote because of it (For Michigan never told me the impact). Hopefully, the impact was that more students registered or voted at City Hall.
Furthermore, For Michigan was very appreciative of my project, stating, “Looks great! We will use it to help spread our message to young voters!” I believe my infographic helped the nonprofit communicate its message to young voters and encourage them to register to vote.
Reflection, Challenges, and potential revisions
This project was fun and I enjoyed doing it. The only issue I really had was finding Holland’s polling location. I could change the information's alignment to left instead of center because we usually curse center text in design now.
