How Sue Became an Honorary Officer
Our coffee group shares many funny stories, but this one is my favorite.]
Rolly, the officer who patrolled our district, was talking to my wife, Sue. He was looking for a young drug dealer who had jumped bail and run away from his apartment.]
The police could not find him. They checked with his family, but the family claimed they had no idea where he was. Rolly mentioned that the young man's parents lived in our development and his mother had a high-ranking job in the county.]
Sue immediately knew who Rolly meant because they lived just around the corner from us. She decided to help Rolly catch the slippery suspect.]
Sue gathered information for the Metro police. Then, she decided to take matters into her own hands.]
At different times of the day, Sue walked a block from our house to a corner with a great view of the parents' house. She watched the house for a while until she hit paydirt. She spotted the young man and his girlfriend pulling up to his parents' house.]
Sue grabbed her cell phone and called Rolly right away. Rolly joyously shouted, "We are on our way!"]
Sue ran back to our front gate. She used our remote controller to open the gates so the police could zoom right in instead of waiting for their automatic openers.]
I looked over toward the gate and saw my wife standing there. She was spinning her arm like a race-track starter, guiding three black-and-white police cars with their lights on toward the house, plus two more coming from our back gate!]
It got very comical. The kid ran through the house and tried to hide in a bedroom with five cops chasing after him.]
They took him back into custody. Afterward, Rolly declared that Sue was now a full-fledged, honorary Metro Officer.]
