PUBLICATION GUIDELINES

For reasons of international standardization and universal access to scientific production, submissions must be delivered in the Open Document Text (.ODT) format, regulated by ISO/IEC standards. Please note that, despite their popularity beyond the digital divide, .DOCX formats do not meet all compatibility standards, and their use requires proprietary software that is not universally available. Therefore, using the open standard .ODT is an exercise in educational social responsibility, teaching and research compliance, and the implementation of open access policies starting from the authorship process.
Always use our TEMPLATE (in ODT format). We recommend drafting your article directly on it to avoid incompatibilities, formatting changes, copy-paste errors, etc.
As a general rule, this journal applies the APA 7th edition style to all aspects: mentions, citations, and bibliographic references; abstract, keywords, tables, figures, etc.
MS Word can open, edit, and save as .ODT; however, during conversion from .DOC/.DOCX, formatting issues may occur with tables, footnotes, and other elements.
We recommend the cross-platform, open and free text editor LibreOffice Writer.
To submit their proposals for publication, authors must accept the clauses detailed in the template, which pertain to a responsible declaration of authorship and informed consent regarding data protection. In summary:
Originality: The authors of the article responsibly declare that it is their own work, original and unpublished.
Preprint: Articles in preprint versions are not permitted for publication.
Self-Archiving: Share your article on platforms, listings, or repositories other than those partnered with Revista Cauce (e.g., Academia.edu, ResearchGate, etc.) only in its final editorial version, after it has been published by the journal.
Acceptance of the processing of personal data is required for the editorial process and publication.
The original works published in Revista Cauce are subject to the Creative Commons CC-BY-NC-SA license. To understand the freedoms and obligations it entails, you can consult the informative version and the specific legal code of the license.
The manuscript should be approximately 8,000 words in length.
The use of the TEMPLATE is mandatory in all cases.
The email address provided should, whenever possible, be the official address of the author's affiliated institution or organization. Please avoid using Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.
Mandatory abstracts must be provided in both English and Spanish. If deemed appropriate, an additional abstract may be included in the language addressed in the article (e.g., French, Italian, Portuguese, etc.).
For the treatment of sources used (mentions, citations, and their corresponding references), the APA style (7th edition) must be applied. You can consult the website https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines.
Please note that incompatibilities between different word processors or their versions may cause unintentional changes in the appearance of graphics, tables, and other elements. Additionally, non-standardized formatting can lead to issues when changing formats (web, e-readers, etc.) and accessibility challenges for individuals with certain disabilities (visual or otherwise). To minimize such issues, APA guidelines should also be applied in this area.
APA Table setup: For accessibility purposes (e.g., for individuals with visual impairments), tables should NOT be bitmap images, such as screenshots, JPGs, etc. If it is essential to reproduce a table from another source, do not insert it as an image or screenshot. Instead, recreate it ad hoc and include a note indicating its external source.
APA Figure setup (charts, photos, etc.): Include alternative text labels for these resources to improve accessibility. Remember that such resources should not replace written content (for the same accessibility reasons); rather, they should summarize or illustrate it. Use them sparingly; avoid including unnecessary figures. They should provide essential content.
Your orthography must apply the English spelling rules.
If you write in Spanish, you must use the last orthography rules published by the Real Academia Española (2010).
Please pay attention to certain cases, still polemic, such as the diacritical mark of solo and the demonstratives. You can check HERE (in Spanish) these and other examples.
Example of ambiguity when using solo as an adjective or an adverb: Me quedo solo los domingos. Does it mean alone (adjective) or only that day (adverb)? In this case, we must write sólo (with accent mark) for the adverbial function.
To submit your manuscript, you must register as an author on our platform.
Make sure you have provided the information for all authors in the article header, including their ORCID identifier.
Remember that it is essential to use our TEMPLATE and the APA 7th edition style. Failure to do so will result in automatic rejection.
The file name should NOT contain accents, ñs, or other special characters that may cause issues with computer systems.
The file name should follow the template format: cauce20XX_surname_name_article_title.odt.
The article selection process follows the mandatory peer review system.
First, compliance with the journal's general publication guidelines is checked, starting with the use of the template and the application of the APA style.
If these parameters and other standard requirements for scientific publications (academic registration and proper writing) are not met, the article will be rejected with instructions on the overlooked guidelines.
This process will only be applied once. If the author resubmits the manuscript with formatting or guideline errors, the proposal will be definitively discarded.
Double anonymous peer review. Once the manuscript is deemed suitable for evaluation, a file without the authors' identification is created and sent to two reviewers who are specialists in the article's subject. These reviewers will also be registered on our OJS platform to ensure the anonymity of the process.
If both reviewers' assessments align, their decision is accepted; if they do not align, a third reviewer’s opinion will be decisive.
Reviewers follow standardized evaluation criteria.
Evaluations may be: "ACCEPTED," "ACCEPTED WITH CORRECTIONS" (returned with instructions for revisions), or "REJECTED" (automatically discarded).
We aim for evaluation periods between 15 and 30 days, but as we are a modest team, we cannot guarantee the immediate availability of reviewers.
Once the article is formatted, a proof may be sent to the author for a final review to check for typos and other minor details, but never for substantial changes.
