Hello, I'm Anna, mum to a cheeky 6yr old, 3 gorgeous border collies and 2 fluffy felines. Life can be a fairly crazy but when I enter my little Cattery, I turn into someone quiet chilled and relaxed. This is my space to do what I love.
Before building my own businesses, I spent most of my time as a registered veterinary nurse, working in and around sheffield, Chesterfield and Rotherham.
It was tough… and sadly I became disheartened with the ethics and attitudes within the veterinary world.
When my son was born I took the opportunity to veer off onto something more enjoyable, this also gave me a better work/life balance for my new family life. Leaving my career behind, embarking on a journey as an entrepreneur and building a business around my family was both exciting and terrifying!
The lines blur and merge wonderfully – There are no hard and straight boundaries! I adore my customers and have a lovely, crazily busy life. I absolutely LOVE working for myself.
I started working as self employed dog trainer (which I still do) in 2019. This was a game changer and I truly found what I'd been looking for in life.
I continue to do lots of courses, workshops and CPD on both canine and feline behaviour. Behaviour is one of my favorite things to talk about. So don't get me started unless you like it too.
But I had also started thinking about the idea of having a cattery in the garden and throughout covid, me and my partner Simon built the cattery from top to bottom. I love being at home and spending time with the feline visitors.
So, Cat Naps is only a small cattery, consisting of 6 rooms and is licenced for only 9 cats. Please see the room rates for more information on each room, inc which rooms are licenced for more than one cat from the same household.
The Cattery is built of wood and is completely secure. The entrance has a 2 door system allowing you to close one before opening another and also has wire netting on all exterior panels.
The cats cannot see into other rooms or see other cats. The rooms are full of enrichment, places to hide and areas to climb. All rooms have a high shelf and platform to jump on to get to the shelf.
Each room has a sleeping area that is heated by a wall heater. The sleeping areas are super cosy and full of blankets, beds and pillows. This space is a good place for cats that are not so confident and maybe worried about leaving home. In situations where the cat/s are not comfortable coming out into the open area can have food and water in the sleeping area to make them feel safer and more likely to eat and settle.
I have open and covered litter trays and normally use corn litter (looks a bit like wood). However if you know your cat can be a little fussy, you are more than welcome to bring their normal cat litter and even their tray/box.
I am super keen on keeping a close eye on the temperature, both in the cat rooms plus corridor and also the sleeping area. All individual sleeping areas have a thermometer and are checked 3/4 times a day.
As the cattery is small I am able to care for the cat guests on my own, which allows the cats to get to know me and even build a good relationship. But don't worry, If there is a time that I'm unable to make it to the cattery e.g. unwell or emergency, my partner Simon is also trained up on Cat Naps standards. He lives on site, loves cats and is always happy to help.
The Cattery is licensed by Sheffield city council (Licence No. AW_AB0075) and is regularly checked.
Cat Naps is covered by Pet Business Insurance - please see INSURANCE CONFIRMATION.
