Lino Cutting

Multiple layers of prints from a single block, reducing the surface area each time, is called lino cut reduction and can create very complex designs.

Lino Cutting

Lino cutting is a relief printing method, the image is printed from an ink rolled surface of the piece of lino.

The surface is removed using lino cutting tools and the areas removed will be left white. Only the very top surface with ink on will be visible.

The print can be printed using a relief press or using a spoon in circular motions applying a steady amount of pressure.

Lino cuts have a very distinct quality, similar to wood engraving but without the wood grained effect.
