London Charterhouse Circle
In a bustling city such as London, forging meaningful friendships can be a challenge, particularly with other Catholics striving to live out their faith. The Catenian Association comprises various Circles, each with its own distinct character and history.
Our own Circle, London Charterhouse, takes its name from the former Carthusian Monastery in Farringdon, near where our members originally gathered in the early years. This name is integral to our identity and serves as a source of inspiration and something we hold in high regard. Founded in 1920, our Circle has shown remarkable resilience over the decades.
One of the defining moments in our Circle's history came during the Second World War, when the Luftwaffe bombed our meeting venue. Undaunted, the brothers gathered by a lamppost and held their meeting there.
We deeply value our Circle's name and cherish our Catholic Faith as central to our identity.
