Maps on the Hill is an annual event that takes place in Utah's Capitol Building every year to showcase GIS technology to legislators and the public. The event and the presentation with my team was a successs. We were able to connect with legistlators, inform the general public, grow as a team, and make connections throughout the state, both with fellow GIS professionals and other stakeholders.
This Esri Story Map was created to not only highlight the work that the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining does, but its importance. Mining, oil, and gas production are major industries in the state of Utah, but it needs to be regulated. This story map brings together projects that show the contributions of these industries to Utah's economy and how we use GIS to regulate these industries. GIS is still new in a lot of state agencies so a dashboard was created to show the return on investment for various GIS workflows.
This video was created using Shotcut (open source video software), ArcPro, and SnagIt (screen-capture software). I created this video to highlight the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining's growing drone program.
