One very impactful class during my time at Carolina was Risk Management for sports and entertainment events. I learned that it is not just focused on preventing injuries or handling emergencies, it actually plays a direct role in shaping how fans experience an event. When risk is managed effectively, it allows the event to run smoothly without any disruptions that could negatively impact the atmosphere. The paper attached is an event audit I completed for 3 different sporting events around Columbia, SC. I was tasked with finding 5 common risks between the 3 events and explaining how they showed up differently at each event. This gave me a much better understanding of what risks are more prevalant at certain types of events.
