"Give without expecting anything in return"
This video is about a man who is constantly doing things for other people without receiving anything but a smile in return. I believe that this is the attitude that teachers should have during their time teaching. Helping out a persons community should be a priority regardless of what they receive from doing it.
Inspiration
This clip is from the movie Rocky Balboa (2006) which features a conversation between Rocky and his son. The most inspirational line from the clip is where Rocky says:
Nobody is gonna hit us as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward.
I believe that this is an attitude that educators need to install into their students. Students need to be taught that failing while learning is okay, but giving up on getting an education is not.
Innovation
This video is about one particular level in the game "Super Mario Brothers". This video talks about how speedrunners, people who try to beat video games as fast as possible, have been innovating a single thirty second level for over 14 years. The amount of time saved over the years only amounts to around 2 seconds. Those two seconds are the result of countless man hours, with many of those hours being shrouded in failure.
To me, this is what innovation is what is truly about. Too many people think that innovation is a "science concept" only done by engineers and people smarter than them. This video shows how simple people can innovate silly everyday parts of their lives, like how they complete a level in a video game.
The Fear of Failing
One of the biggest problems that I had when I was growing up was my fear of failing. I always hated to "look stupid" in front of my peers and it would sometimes hold me back from doing something, not because I knew I would fail, but just because it was a possibility.
I am a little older now and I realize that failing is sometimes the only way to get better at something. Instead of getting embarrassed by failure, I now try to analyze what made me fail instead. By doing this, I find that I am able to feel comfortable broadening my horizons. I believe that this clip is a great tool for people that share my old feelings to reach the same realization I came to.
Joy and Reflection
Bob Ross was a big part of my life growing up. My brother was a very sick child and would watch the man all day if he could. His voice is so calm and soothing, I believe that it made my brother feel better when he was sick. Years later, I now watch Bob Ross myself and actually attempt to paint along with him. No matter what my painting amalgamations turn into, I always feel good after at least attempting.
I am the type of person who tries to get better at everything I do. It was a relief to me that one of Bob Ross's episodes was dedicated just to people having the same issues I did. Regardless of if my paintings are good or not, I believe this video to be a good example of what joy and reflection mean to me. I may gain joy from painting, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't reflect on my brush strokes and try to get better.
