For this project I had to find two articles dealing with Cybersecurity issues and write a paragraph about each one while identifying key information about the source itself. I also had to take Cybersecurity training in order to earn a certificate on the subject which is pictured below further down in the slide
I learned about the different cyber attacks that can happen at CCBC. I also learned the difference between malware and ransomware. And lastly I learned about new ways i can protect my own privacy on the internet to prevent myself and others from being the victim of cyber attacks.
The articles tells about a situation in Florida where a tax collector's compute was the victim of a ransomware attack. Ransomeware can be used to deny someone access to their own files, sort of effectively locking them out. Then usually the hackers demand ransom in order to get the information back. This would effect the taxpayers who's personal information are stored on the tax collector's computer. To prevent ransomeware attacks one could install firewalls on their computer or antivirus software. Downloading a VPN could be a possible solution as well.

The truthfulness and integrity of the facts: Seems Accurate, lots of quotes, a video of news coverage, and interview from tax collector himself
How is it written and presented? To inform the West Palm beach area, little advertisements at the bottom, away from the key information in the article
Links and Citations: Links to other news stories related to the malware attack, and another news journal source
This article tells a case about four men in St. Louis facing charges for using fake cashier’s checks to buy vehicles from private sellers online, to then resell for profit. This a prime example of internet fraud, a security risk that involves people operating on fake identities or providing false information to a client on the internet. This scheme for example hurts the private sellers who basically now gave away the vehicles for free since the checks were fake. To prevent internet fraud a user can make their passwords longer (use long words mixed with numbers and symbols). Also they can set up a two-way authentication and lastly try not to just give out personal information on the internet.
