🎉Carson rang the bell today! 🎉
What an emotional ride this has all been. Below is the speech I read and I have also included a video that was sent of me reading this speech and ending with him ringing the bell... no other words need to be said!💛🎉💪
Thank you all for joining us today. I just want to frame this day for you all on what it took to get here to this point.
365 days ago, on what started as an afternoon urgent care trip with x rays for what we assumed was a soccer injury that just never healed right, led us to an 8pm MRI...
That turned into...
35 weeks of Ewing's Sarcoma treatment protocol with
29 active chemo treatment weeks
47 days & 32 nights on Floor J12 at Oshei
4 Outpatient chemo days here at clinic
1 biopsy
3 surgeries
40 staples
1 modular chromium cobalt implant of his right proximal femur
3 different assistive walking devices
48 total AMAZING nurse home visits
35 at home blood draws
12 at home physical therapy visits with the GOAT - PT Tom!
14 Neulasta bone marrow boosting injections
1 ER Trip
3 PET Scans
4 MRIs & CTs (both soon to be 5 next week)
8 X-Rays
4 Echocardiograms
7 Blood Transfusions with at least 12 Bags of blood from 4 different donors, 2 of which we know & love
3 different forms of 4 different antibiotics
Eleventy billion bags of fluids(if you know me well enough, this is my favorite number)
5 MORE YEARS of Labs, Scans and patience...
And...
Countless forms of love and kindness sent our family's way that we will forever be grateful for!
All for 1 boy that never gave up and beat a rare cancer.

After school was over, Carson had PT.
He is getting strength back and working out like a champ with the guys there.
He goes 2x/week to PT and even when he is exhausted, he knows how important it is to still show up and get the work done!
Amazes me every single day!!

We had our first meeting earlier this month to get things all squared away with Carson now that his port is removed and some sort of schedule can be maintained.
For today though - it is his first day at eAcademy!
We are shooting for return to in-person classes for right after April break. This will give him enough time to catch up on what he can and also work on building his strength to be able to traverse the halls without a cane or crutch!
He's nervous, but excited to start getting a routine back!
Happy first day of school, again, Carson!😊

We went to our very first Bandits game and it SUCH was a blast!
If you have never been, trust me when I tell you - go! It was so amazing and I didn't even know the rules of Lacrosse. I caught on quickly with the help of the people around me and my boys but wow what an electric atmosphere!!
Thank you Courage of Carly for giving our family a night of absolute AWESOMENESS! It is always so much fun with you guys!
