Introduction to the Class

OBJECTIVE: Select students for each section. Review introductions. Identify student interests. 

ACTIVITIES:  Students take ESL Placement test.

Turn and talk: Students complete an About Me Poster. Students will interview each other asking, What is your name? What is your favorite food and activity? 

Students will watch the video and ask each other two further questions. ESL Video 1000 Introductions

Lesson 1 

LEVEL 1 

OBJECTIVES: Talking about yourself. The verb "to be" with numbers and nationalities. 

Icebreaker: Turn and Talk asking and answering questions about your nationality and your children.

ACTIVITY 1: Students will participate in a dialogue reviewing introductions. Express W 1 pages 2-5

ACTIVITY 2:  Review the verb "to be" in the present tense and the numbers.

LEVEL 2

OBJECTIVES: Greet someone and introduce yourself using wh- questions.
Ask informatioon about a neighborhood, using wh questions and yes/no questions. 

OBJECTIVES: Ask permission to do something. Offer to help someone, using two-word verbs.

ACTIVITY 3: Students will play taboo using emotion picture cards. Two teams. Teams will take turns. 

Lesson 5    1/25/25 Every Day Things

LEVEL 1 

OBJECTIVES: Learn about different things you have or use in your daily life. 

Icebreaker: Turn and Talk matching Every Day Things

ACTIVITY 1:    Students will work on  EE CB1 Unit 7  and EE PB Unit 7. 


ACTIVITY 2:  Students will formulate sentences using the "this, that, those" cards. 


ACTIVITY 3:  Jeopardy Game on Things You Have

OBJECTIVES: How are you feeling? Use words to describe your emotions.

Icebreaker: Using these emotion cards, students will take turns picking a card and will write a sentence using that card. 

ACTIVITY 1::  Students will work on EEP7 and EEC7.

ACTIVITY 3: Students will play How Did You Feel board game in groups.

Lesson 6    2/1/25    Talk about your things and Transportation 

LEVEL 1 

OBJECTIVES: Using demonstrative pronouns this, that, these those.

Icebreaker: Students will play matching with things from the home.

ACTIVITY 1:    Students will work on  EE CB1 Unit 8  and EE PB Unit 8. 

ACTIVITY 2:   Students will play pictionary with the words from the cards.

Lesson 8      2/22/25 Talking about your job

LEVEL 1 

OBJECTIVES: Review the verb to be and occupations

Icebreaker: Students will play Go Fish with the occupation cards.

Students will review am, is, are

ACTIVITY 1:    Students will work on  EEC1 Unit 10 and  EEP1 Unit 10

ACTIVITY 2:   Students will play a guessing game. Groups will have one minute to determine the answer to a description of a certain occupation.  

Students will watch a video and in groups come up with as many sentences as they can in 2 minutes in small groups. Students will share sentences

 

LEVEL 2

OBJECTIVES:Students will play matching with body parts worksheets and body parts flash cards.

ACTIVITY 1::  Students will work on EECB2  Unit 10 and EEPB2 Unit 10

ACTIVITY 2:  Students will play jeopardy on body parts.

OBJECTIVES: Students will work on illness sentences and matching illnesses.

Students will role play having different illnesses and what they would describe to a doctor in pairs.

ACTIVITY 2:  Students will play a jeopardy game on illnesses.

Lesson 10    3/8/25 Describing Your Week

LEVEL 1 

OBJECTIVES: Review negatives with to be.

Icebreaker: Students will play Go Fish game with careers.

ACTIVITY 1:    Students will work on  EECB U Lesson 15 and EEPB U15

ACTIVITY 2:   Students will play 20 Questions with the career cards using this paper to write the questions. 

 

LEVEL 2

OBJECTIVES: Students will play a matching game with weather cards.

ACTIVITY 1::  Students will work on EECB2  Unit 12-13 and EEPB2 Unit 12-13

ACTIVITY 2:   Students will write weather report scripts using these pictures. This is the video you can present. 

Students will play 20 Questions using this paper to write the questions.

LEVEL 1 

OBJECTIVES: Review the more negatives. 

Icebreaker: Students will write truths and lies about themselves on a bio page. 

ACTIVITY 1:    Students will work on EEC1 #16 and EEP1 #16

ACTIVITY 2:   Students will play a Wheel of Fortune.  This is the board for the game.

Students will play Two Truths and a Lie 

Teacher will model:  I have 3 children.  I am married to a roofer. I have worked for 30 years.

LEVEL 2

OBJECTIVES: Students will work on travel vocabulary.  

ACTIVITY 1: Ice Breaker: Would you rather in small groups.  

Students will work on EECB2 #14  Unit  and EEPB2 #14 

ACTIVITY 2: Students will  role play a discussion about the best place to visit using these role play cards on travel. 

Class will ask questions of the panel. Students will vote on the best place to visit.

Icebreaker: Students will play go fish with every day things. 

Students will look at these pictures and will write questions they have about the photos. 

ACTIVITY 1:    Students will work onEEC1 #17  and EP1 #17

ACTIVITY 2:   Students will play a 20 questions game using the following vocabulary words:

OBJECTIVES: Students will work on making comparisons in pairs. Students will answer the questions in full sentences.

LEVEL 1 

OBJECTIVES: Asking Questions Students will work on Geographical Features and play matching. 

Answer these questions and discuss in pairs. 

ACTIVITY 1:    Students will work on EEC1#19  and EEP1 #19

ACTIVITY 2:   Students will play a jeopardy game on questions. 

 

LEVEL 2

OBJECTIVES: Students will work on Geographical Features and play matching.

Look at the different videos and identify the geographical land features.  Students will identify different features in a gallery walk.
