Rise360 (from Articulate360) allows the student to interact more with the technology and at the same time gives time for reflection. The tool is asynchronous, so it is student -paced and learner- centred. You can also use the tool to evaluate the student at any time of the lesson. It has a professional look and it is easy to use. Another advantage is that the student can access to this resource online and offline, printed or digital version.
To evaluate the effectiveness of Rise360, it is suggested to run the LORI model (Learning Object Review Instrument) so learners can assess its 1. Content Quality; 2. Alignment among learning goals; 3. Adaptation of content according to learner’s input; 4. Motivation to the learner; 5. Design and the visual/auditory characteristics; 6. the ease of using and navigating through it; 7. the accessibility; and 8. Standards compliance (Nesbit, 2009). Also, it is suggested to use Articulate360’s report, to measure completion, success, score and time to complete the course.
On the other hand, Powtoon could be a good resource to create a more engaging and attractive experience for the learner, as it adds animation and more visuals to the lesson. It can also be used to capture key points and make it more memorable for the student, by transforming and visualising complex ideas into simple statements.
One way to evaluate the effectiveness of Powtoon is through feedback, for example using a forum or social media like Twitter. Furthermore, anonymous online surveys could be a good option to get opinions from students that maybe they wouldn’t share in a live or open online setting. These strategies could also be used with Articulate 360.
