Event Day

Public Transport:

1) Buses: (All bus route times are further below)

From The Ardilaun Hotel:

Head toward Taylor’s Hill Road (Main Road).

Turn right onto Taylor’s Hill Road.

Walk one minute to the bus stop Highfield park (Sycamore Drive).

Take the Bus Éireann line 402 in direction to Merlin Park (9 stops).

Get off at University Rd (NUIG Main Gate).

From Galway Bay Hotel:

Get out of the hotel on the coastal road (Upper Salthill Road).

Turn right on Upper Salthill Road.

Walk one minute to the bus stop (Salthill Road Upper Rockbarton Rd.).

Take the City Direct bus line 410 in direction to Eyre Square (9 stops).

Get off at University Rd (NUIG Main Gate).

From Eyre Square:

Go for the bus stop at the north of the square in front of Fiber Magee’s pub (Eyre Square, stop 524371).

Take the Bus Éireann line 405 in direction to Rahoon (3 stops).

Get off at University Rd (NUIG Main Gate).

2) Taxi:

If taking a taxi, tell the driver to go to the quadrangle and that the Human Biology Building is near Bailey Allen Hall. That will get you close.

Driving and Parking:

You have two Options

1) Free Parking At North Car Park

We have arranged for parking permits for the day. The parking area is located at the far Northern end of campus at the Park and Ride Parking lot near the Lifecourse Building. Travel north on Newcastle Road to the north entrance, turn left and follow signs.

Instructions:

1. Visit the following page - https://nuig.apcoa.ie/applicant#

2. Select “Create Account” on the top right of the page

3. Select either “Personal” or “Business” account

4. Complete your personal/company details and enter your car registration and details

5. Accept Terms & conditions and an account will then be created

6. Select “Apply for Permit” and choose the event you wish to apply for the permit for.

7. Accept Terms & Conditions and complete booking

From the Park and ride, you can either catch a bus to The Orbsen Building, or walk along the path near the river. This is about a 15min walk.

2) Use a Pay and Display

These are located on the link below. Find an open P&D space (blue lined spaces) and ensure you have your ticket on display in the dash.

There are parking spots at the Galway Cathedral Car Park only a 5-minute walk to conference venue - P&D cost is ~€5 per day.
