Ping Jing, PhD, Principal Investigator 

Dr. Ping Jing is an associate professor in the School of Environmental Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago. Her research interests include the effect of climate change on weather conditions and air pollution. She has taught courses on Climate and Climate Change, Energy and the Environment, and Environmental Careers and Professional Skills. She has supervised undergraduate students in geoscience research projects on topics such as ground-level ozone, indoor air quality, and energy performance of academic buildings. She holds a PhD degree in Atmospheric Science from Georgia Institute of Technology.  

Tania Schusler, PhD, Co- Principal Investigator 

Dr. Tania Schusler is an environmental social scientist and assistant professor in the School of Environmental Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago. She teaches courses on Food Systems, Water, Climate Action, Environmental Justice, and the Human Dimensions of Conservation. Her current research investigates the intersection of environmental sustainability with racial and economic justice in three realms: (1) food systems, (2) urban greening, and (3) environmental education. She holds MS and PhD degrees in Natural Resources Policy and Management from Cornell University and has published numerous scientific articles in journals such as Society and Natural Resources, Environmental Education Research, and Nature Sustainability. 

Dikshya Dahal, Graduate Student

Dikshya Dahal is pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Science and Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago, School of Environmental Sustainability. As a research track student, she is interested in understanding the role of marginalized communities in environmental management, and the impact of environmental degradation on women and children in both developing and developed countries. Dikshya holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and master’s degree in Environment and Natural Resources from Kathmandu University, Nepal. Dikshya has over three years of experience working with different non-profit organizations in different capacities. Prior to joining Loyola, Dikshya worked as a program coordinator for a Child Centered Community Development Program funded by United Mission to Nepal.

Nora Hartnett, Graduate Student

Nora Hartnett is pursuing a master’s degree in Environmental Science and Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago, School of Environmental Sustainability. Her current research involves understanding the impacts of climate change on particulate air pollution. Nora has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. 

Bo Zhang, PhD, Collaborator

Dr. Bo Zhang is a lecturer in the School of Environmental Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago. His backgrounds are in environmental science and GIS, and his research interests center on applying geospatial technologies to study physical environment change. Bo Zhang holds a PhD degree in Geography and his dissertation research focuses on the development and application of Markov chain geostatistics. His previous work has also investigated spatiotemporal patterns of aerosol particles, transit accessibility, and transportation network analysis. He has worked as the GIS analyst for the project Assessing Service Equity in Connecticut's Large Public Transportation Systems. 

Stella B. V. Wigglebutt, PawhD, Dog

Stella Bun-bun Von Wigglebutt is the CARE emotional support animal. Her research interests lie in cuddles, snacks and saving the planet. Her expertise is in supporting students during coding exercises. She is a valuable asset to the CARE team.
