This year’s 2023 boys’ volleyball is coached by Ms. Turner and Mrs. Safranek. Some background on the sport is that it was discovered by William G. Morgan in 1895 but it was originally called Mintonette and first played in 1896. Volleyball has evolved over the many years, now let’s be introduced too our coaches!
Ms. Turner: Ms. Turner was a volleyball player back in middle and high school and decided she wanted to share her love of volleyball and with the 6th and 7th graders! She started to coach boys’ volleyball here at palos south in 2015! The was her first ever team and she had coached with Mr. Duggan. While dealing with pressure she paces and chews gum. She thinks the hardest and worst part is choosing the team itself. Ms. turner is an 8A ELA teacher!
Ms. Safranek: Ms. Safranek has played volleyball since 12 years old and played in UIC. Ms. Safranek still plays in adult leagues to this day! Ms. Safranek has learned to deal with pressure by keeping herself and the team calm. Some of the primary responsibilities of being coach is organizing practices and analyzing game plans. Ms. Safranek is a big music fan and loves trips!
All being said about our two wonderful coaches, lets learn some more about our past and future games!
Our first boys Palos South was the 24th of October where we won our first game. Our last game for the Boys Volleyball season is the 7th of December!
Our current teams has won many games and we are proud! The boys’ volleyball team is great, and we are proud of our current players.

In boy’s cross country, we can run or jog (Mr. Adam’s does Not allow walking.) So anyway’s who is Mr. Adam’s? For the 6th grader’s that don’t know him. He is the 8th grade science teacher downstairs and now, what do we do in cross country. So in cross country you have run or jog 2 miles in 25 minute’s this sound’s hard but it is not that hard that you think we also run at the track field located at the fount of the school. You can practice for next year. (if you want to.) So this year’s race we got 4th place at the in conference race and in the open race we got 5th .
So what else do we do in cross country we do half a mile repeat’s Sometimes we do one mile repeat’s we do this thing called Indian run where if your in last place when the person say’s go, You have to sprint as fast as you can until you are first, In total we had 4 races including the open race and conference And after we are done we have a pizza party, Here are the conference racer’s.

After school gym is a club that any 6th grader can join at any time in the school year. It is every other Monday depending on whether you are in 6A or 6B, Mrs. Satler and Mr. Mancilla oversee this club. Mrs. Satler has been doing it for 30 years and Mr. Mancilla has been doing it for 15. We play games like dodgeball, ships to shores, wiffle ball, line soccer and line football, etc. The last day is the very last Monday of the school year, June 3rd. After school gym is for 6th graders to get to know each other and hang out with friends. It's not something that you have to attend every meeting, it's just something to do. I hope to see you at the next meeting!
