GHG emission statistics from cement manufacture process and analysis.
▫️ The main raw material for producing cement is heated to very high temperatures achieved by burning of huge amounts of coal and fossil fuels.
▫️ In the complete process, carbon dioxide is released in two occasions.
Conversion of limestone to cement
Burning of biofuel and fossil fuel
▫️ The carbon emissions from the cement industry in Sri Lanka is seen below.
▫️ The main contributor of GHGs by cement production in Sri Lanka is the Puttlam Cement Company Limited (PCCL).
▫️ The following graph shows its release of carbon dioxide.
▫️ The next graph shows the predicted carbon emissions by PCCL.
▫️ The most basic and strongest step to fight the GHG emissions would be to either use alternative raw material or change the ratios of raw material.
▫️ Additionally, sources of energy other than biofuels and fossil fuels can be considered.
