When the draft of the plan is near completion and has been reviewed by the producer, it is important to develop a project implementation timeline, identifying the producer's priority practices and potential funding sources.
A Carbon Farm Plan (CFP) should be viewed as a living document. It should evolve as practices are implemented, producer goals change and/or new information, funding, and tools become available. Additional carbon-beneficial practices may be considered for inclusion in the plan in the future. The proposed practices in the Carbon Farm Plan are likely to be implemented in an iterative manner over time, based upon soil and crop response, GHG and co-benefits, available funds, and the producer's priorities. A Project Timeline provides a framework for prioritizing and recording CFP practices as they are implemented, as well as identifying potential funding sources. Practices are listed in order of priority as determined through discussion between the producer and planner, recognizing the iterative and aspirational nature of the plan. The producer’s near-term goals with respect to conservation practice implementation should be documented in the Record of Decision/Implentation Table.
The Implementation Table is intended to serve as a list of the landowner’s initial implementation decisions, including locations and timeline for proposed first tier and possibly other, practices. Prioritization of Potential Practices should take into account:
Landowner Interest/Priority (priority practices with funding and without funding)
Plan to implement sequentially to optimize effects (eg: plant windbreaks first!)
Financial Considerations and Funding Mechanisms
Carbon Benefits
Other Benefits
