Professional Practice

My long-term career goal is to create illustrations and other visual art about environmental issues for organizations like National Geographic, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other groups whose work relates to nature and the environment. These issues are very important to me, and I want to use art to share my interests with others in a way that is more approachable than straight numbers and statistics. I see myself starting out doing general illustration work within the structure of a company and working to sell my personal art on the side. Once I have more work experience behind me, I would like to get a job at an organization that deals with environmental issues specifically and do art for them. Eventually, I would like to be able to support myself as a freelance artist focusing on these topics.
