Showcase 2 is a snapshot of my professional website where I have showcased my botanical art book. It is an example of the skills I developed as an artist during my time at Herron and through my honors contracts, and one of the ways I hope to apply those skills after graduation.
The book contains 12 pages and five different plants. They are drawn realistically, from several views and in a variety of mediums with the goal being used educationally.

I made this book for an Honors Contract in Intermediate Illustration II, spring of 2025. It is a book of botanical illustrations showing plants at the Indianapolis Zoo. Over the course of the semester I did in-person sketches and research on plants in the greenhouse and throughout the Zoo. The project was completed with finished illustrations and assembled into a book.
"Chamaedorea Metallica( Metallica Palm)
A small, stemmed palm native to Mexico. Can reach a maximum height of 10 feet tall with grayish green leaves arranged spirally around the stem. Grows well in shaded environments with moderate water. "
This is one of the honors projects that I am most proud of. I was able to apply my artistic skills to create a functional work of art about topic I feel very strongly about- nature and the outdoors. Throughout this project, I improved my artistic skills by creating balanced compositions, experimenting with realistic botanical drawings, and saw how rewarding an endeavor making your own book is. I am happy with how the illustrations turned out, and it was extremely exciting to see them all assembled into a book. By posting it on my website I hope to share this project with others and that it will help me find professional work in this area.
