Description: body: elongate-ovate, moderately robust; very weakly convex, flattish. Dorsal and ventral colouration glossy black. Head triangular, slender; centre of the head should have two triangular dimples; frons with two shallow, wrinkled dimples which continue onto the clypeus. Labrum shaped like an inverted 'U', margins pale or dark orange. Mandibles mostly obscured by the labrum; mandibles slender, straight, tips curved, inner margins toothed. Palpi dark, tips roundish, front margin curved, pale yellow. Eyes smallish, flattened close to the head. Antennae slender, black; antennal pubescence begins on the third antennomere following the pedicel (segment 5). Pronotum flattish, cordate. Anterior margin transverse, impressed into the pronotum slightly; anterior angles round into the lateral margins; lateral margins sinuous, base constricted; lateral margins beaded; hind angles obtuse, nearly squared; pronotal base transverse. Median line thin, disk mostly smooth; the lower median of the disk should have no elevated bulge, though on either side of the median line should be a short, shallow indentation; dorsal pronotal base explanate, with several weak longitudinal wrinkles. Basal margin thinly beaded. 13-14 well-defined, thinly pitted striae per elytron, intervals weakly elevated; intervals nearest the elytral suture tend to be flattish. Elytral intervals should have irregularly-occurring setigerous pits. Humeral shoulders weak, rounding into the lateral margins; lateral margins beaded, rounded, elongate; apices pointed. Ventral faces and legs glossy black.
