Distribution; Throughout California
Information: Common around deciduous and evergreen forests and meadows alike, along brooks, streams, or other bodies of water they may be found foraging for insect larvae, gastropods, other soft-bodied invertebrates, sometimes will be seen feeding upon the soft carcasses of amphibians (ie. newts and salamanders.)
Description: Pronotum cordate, two to three times the width of the head at the widest point, the narrowest point of the pronotum roughly the width of its head. S.interruptus fully black, occasionally with dull blue elytral margins: underside, head, antennae, limbs jet black. Abdominal region/elytra compact-ovate.
