Information: C.maeander found in North America tend to reside in meadows, forested areas, fields, and natural grasslands. Carnivorous, prey upon gastropods, worms, and relatively soft-bodied insects. Nocturnal.
Description: body: elongate-ovate, slender; convex. Dorsal colouration may vary from coppery-grey, brownish-bronze, green-bronze, or grey (matte grey populations in North America primarily seen in e. Oregon and e. Washington). True striae absent, instead the elytral sculpturing is made up of uneven/incomplete costa, elongate granules, none of which have consistent sizes within populations, or the species as a whole. Pronotal lateral margins black, upturned. Pronotum heavily punctate, hind angles rounded-acute, base slightly constricted; pronotum somewhat transverse-cordate, as broad as elytra shoulders. Head black, with somewhat shiny sheen over it, typically the same colour as the pronotum. Punctate, ridges spanning from the eyes to the clypeus. Antennae black, glossy; pubescence begins on the thirs antennomere after the pedicel. Scapus same length as the first antennomere after the pedicel. Palps glossy black. Ventral colouration: glossy black; legs black.
