Distribution; Loosely dispersed throughout central-Northern USA, throughout Canada.
Information: Often found living in open tundra, prefer dry habitat. Carnivorous, prey upon orthopterans, gastropods, worms, or other invertebrates.
Description: Carabus chamissonis are fully black aside from the galea, which visually appear to be a second, smaller set of mandibles found located on the underside of the carabid's mouth parts. Elytra rough, but not granulated.
