Description: body: ovate, robust, moderately convex. Body colouration glossy or semi-glossy black. Head triangular, broad at the base; surface of the head should appear to be covered in interconnecting, shallow cracks, otherwise smooth. Eyes rather far apart to the the width of the head; eyes reduced in size, and do not strongly bulge. Clypeus very short, weakly concave; labrum also short, anterior margin wavy, madian punched inward. Mandibles long, broad, strongly curved into points. Antennal black, with short, pale antennal pubescence only located along the lateral faces of the segments, leaving a bare strip down the middle. Pronotum short, broadly semi-cordate, weakly convex; the anterior margin should have a very thick bead along it; anterior angles obtuse, slightly pointed forward; lateral margins beaded, sinuate; hind angles acute, weakly rounded, jutting toward the elytra; basal margin thinly beaded, transverse. Pronotal disk similarly sculptured to the surface of the head. Elytra convex, strongly ovate. 16-17 striae per elytron, intervals elevated; overlapping, scale-like sculpturing run along the intervals. Humeral shoulders obtuse; scutellum wide, exposed; lateral margins rounded; apices weakly pointed. Ventral colouration glossy black, legs black.
