Description: body: ovate-robust, convex. Semi-glossy or matte black, well-defined elytral striation, dotted with large colourful pits. 16-18 striae per elytron, intervals flat, visually similar to fused, matte black reptile scales. Elytral pits iridescent orange, red, gold, or green, sometimes combinations of these. Pronotum strongly transverse-ovate, median line faint, in some instances not present. Head matte black, vertex heavily punctate, front of head flat, but covered by small wrinkles Mandibles wide, long, matte black with minor dorsal wrinkles. Ventral colouration: glossy or matte black, legs glossy black.
