Size: 13.8-17.5mm
Seasonality: March-September
Distribution; Alaska-nw. CA

Description: body: elongate-oblong, moderately robust. Mature adults should have fully smooth pronotal disks, unlike the one shown, and should be fully glossy or semi-glossy black in colour. Head somewhat slender, triangular, face long, mandibles sharp, weakly curved at tips. Mandibles dark brown with black inner margins; dorsally quite smooth. The back of the head should have wrinkles giving the appearance of fine cracks, while the rest of the head should be mostly smooth. Eyes reduced somewhat, bulging laterally. Antennae dark brown to black, antennal pubescence begins on the second antennomere following the pedicel. Two long setae should be found above each eye, and a small ridge should begin over the eye and end abruptly above the base of the scapus. Pronotum elongate-rectangular, front angles rounded-acute, front margin weakly curved inwards; lateral margins beaded-bead lined with notches of varying sizes; hind angles squared. Median line deep. Basal margin of the pronotum overlaps with the elytral base, leaving only the tip of the scutellum exposed on most specimens. 8 deep striae, and one paracutellar pit per elytron; intervals flat or weakly raised, no additional pubescence. Laterobasal ridges entire, often covered by overlapping pronotal base. Lateral margins rounded, humeral shoulders obtuse, apices weakly sinuous.
