Description: body: elongate-oblong, moderately robust; dorsal and ventral colouration should be fully glossy/iridescent black, with red legs. Head triangular, face not overly long; eyes bulging laterally; very small ridge spanning from above the front of the eye to the base of the scapus; two long, pale setae may be found over each eye; dorsal surface of the head should be smooth. Mandibles curved, area around the tips reddish, the rest of the mandible is black; palpi orange with yellow tips. Antennae pale red; antennal pubescence begins on the second antennomere following the pedicel. Pronotum slopes towards the head dorsally and laterally. Disk mostly smooth, median line shallow, but prominent, rest of the disk is smooth. Hind angles rounded-obtuse, lateral margins rounded-sloping slowly towards the head, front angles acute, weakly curved towards the head. Lateral margins should have strong lateral beads. Narrow indentations may be seen on either side of the lower median bulge. 7-8 deep, well-defined striae per elytron, intervals flat or weakly elevated. Humeral shoulders rounded; laterobasal ridge entire; lateral margins weakly upturned; apices rounded.
