Description: body: elongate-ovate, moderately robust. Head smallish, triangular; face short; mandibles short, curved. Palpi dark with pale tips. Eyes bluge laterally, with a ridge that begins over the front of the eye, ending abruptly above the base of the scapus. Surface of the head smooth, glossy black. Antennae dark reddish to black, antennal pubescence begins on the second antennomere following the pedicel; two setae should be found over each eye. Pronotum semi-ovate cordate; front margin straight, front angles sharply or rounded acute or obtuse, often weakly bent outwards. Lateral margins of the pronotum rounded; weakly constricted at the base; lateral beading only occurring on the lateral margins, not on the basal margin; hind angles squared or acute. Median line shallow, the lower median bulge should have one weakly micropunctate indentation on either side, each about half the length of the pronotal disk; rest of the disk smooth, glossy black. Elytra elongate-ovate; all marginal angles round. 7-8 shallow, weakly pitted striae per elytron, intervals flat; iridescent black in colour. Stria 3 on each elytron should have 3-4 slightly larger pits evenly spaced across the stria. Ventral faces and legs dark red to black.
