Information: may be found among leaf litter and dry soil, often found on/around dry lake and reservoir beds during the summer.
Description: body: elongate-ovate; head and pronotum glossy black, occasionally with blue margins on the pronotum, while the elytra are matte black, sometimes with blue or green lateral margins. Ventral faces glossy black. Head triangular, face longish; head smooth, eyes weakly bulging laterally. Two setae should be found above each eye. A small ridge begins in front of the eye, travelling towards the base of the scapus. Mandibles curved into points, black; palpi black with pale tips. Scapus, pedicel, and first following antennomere orange, rest are dark, with the antennal pubescence beginning on the second antennomere following the pedicel. Pronotum squarish, with rounded, weakly sinuous lateral and hind margins. Lateral margins beaded, front and basal margins without. Front angles obtuse, hind angles squared. Median line prominent, with small wrinkles stretching out, towards the lateral margins; rest of disk smooth, except for the small depression found on either one of the two dorsal hind angles, which are micropunctate. 7-8 well=defined striae per elytron, intervals flat; three small fovea should be either within the 2nd-3rd stria or touching the 3rd stria on each elytron, and are somewhat evenly spread apart along the interval. Lateral elytral margins upturned slightly, lateral margins rounded, apices pointed. Legs black.
