Description: body: small; elongate-ovate, semi-robust. Dorsal colouration can be dull metallic grey-bronze or shiny gold to shiny greenish-gold. Head triangular, eyes very large, bulging laterally, not angled forward. Head smooth, with two fovea containing each single setae above the eyes. Mandibles small, curved close to the head, curved into a small hook; they are brownish to orangey-amber in colour. Palps and lower mouth parts pale or dark brown-orange, tips of palpi always pale. Living specimens generally have yellow antennae, which turn dark after death. Antennal pubescence begins on the second antennomere following the pedicel. Pronotum semi-transversely ovate; some specimens have hind angles which are squared, others that are obtuse; lateral margins round, small lateral bead around the entire of the margins, but ends abruptly before the median line. Two long setae may be found near the two angles of both lateral dorsal margins of the pronotum. Pronotal disk relatively smooth, median line faint. Scutellum exposed. Front angles obtuse. 7-8 thin striae on each elytron; intervals flat; no apical pubescence; apices pointed, lateral margins rounded; one preapical seta per elytron. Ventral: legs yellowish to orange, tarsal claws slightly pectinate. The underside of the body is dark brown.
