Description: body: elongate-ovate, moderately robust, weakly convex. Dorsal colouration dark, semi-glossy reddish; elytra often nearly black; pronotum with dark red margins. Head fairly long; triangular; the surface of the head should be mostly smooth; two shallow, rhombus-shaped dimples on the frons, which briefly continue onto the clypeus. Head dark red. Clypeus short, with one setigerous pore near each dorsal front angle. Labrum smallish, red; front margin sinuous. Mandibles short, weakly curved; semi-matte black, may have a slight reddish hue. Palpi pale yellow-orange. Eyes weakly reduced; close to the head, not bulging strongly. Two supraorbital setae over each eye. Antennae dark red-brown, often with some partially pale segments. Antennal pubescence begins on the second half of the second antennomere following the pedicel. Pronotum somewhat rectangular, rounded. Front margin curved inward slightly; front angles obtuse, jutting forward slightly; lateral margins rounded, sloping forward; hind angles squared. Pronotal base about as wide as the humeral shoulders. Pronotal margins beaded, beading vanishes at both the front and basal median. Disk heavily punctate along the dorsal base; very rough along the dorsal lateral margins; base weakly impressed; median line weak; centre of the disk raised slightly, smooth. Scutellum large, exposed. Laterobasal ridges entire, reddish; may be partially obscured depending on the beetle's position. 8 well-defined, thinly pitted striae per elytron, intervals flattish. No parascutellar pits are present. Humeral shoulders obtuse; lateral margins weakly rounded; apices round, very weakly sinuate. Ventral colouration dark reddish-black, legs dark red.
