Size: 8.5-9mm
Seasonality: March-December
Distribution; YT-BC-CA to MB-NE-NM, DG-MX
Information: n/a
Description: body: elongate-ovate, moderately robust, moderately convex. Dorsal colouration typically dull, semi-glossy black, nearly grey(dark) [based on multiple Canadian specimens in our collections, and specimens borrowed from the OSAC] or matte dark grey. Ventral colouration matches that of the dorsum. Head relatively large, triangular; surface of the head rough, though no elevated sculpturing is present. Sutural divide between the clypeus and the frons is often partially vanished in this species. The clypeus should have a total of 9 or 12 elongated dimples; the elongated dimple on either lateral margin should have a somewhat obscured setigerous pit. Labrum short, rectangular; lateral and front margins opaque yellow. Mandibles strongly curved close to the head, outer margins weakly orange, the rest of the mandible should be of the same colour as the head. Palpi brown with yellow tips. Scapus orange, pedicel brown, sometimes with a faint orange-yellow ring around the front of the pedicel. The rest of the antenna should be dark. Antennal pubescence begins on the second antennomere following the pedicel (segment 4). Eyes not strongly bulging laterally; two supraorbital setae over each eye. Pronotum short, transversely stretched; front margin weakly curved inward; front angles acute, bent forward; lateral margins sloped forward; hind angles squared; basal margin very weakly sinuous. Pronotum fully beaded-beading thin. Median line very faint, often broken: shallow. Dorsal hind angle weakly depressed. Scutellum exposed. Very small parascutellar pores present. 9 well-defined striae per elytron, intervals weakly elevated. Laterobasal ridges entire, straight, with a minor lip on the humeral shoulder angle. Humeral shoulders obtuse; apices sinuate.
