Description: body: elongate, semi-oblong, moderately robust and convex. Dorsal colouration uniformly dark reddish-brown, nearly black. Head fairly broad, short; somewhat square; most of the head should be relatively smooth, with some weak texturing. Frons with two small, but wide dimples-dimples rough-not continuing onto the clypeus. Clypeus short, broad; front margin strongly curved inwards towards the frons; lateral margins slope toward the labrum, somewhat sinuous, occasionally pale. The two front angles of the clypeus should each have one small setigerous pit, containing each an individual, short, pale seta. Face very short; labrum short, rectangular; margins orange or opaque dull yellow. Palpi yellow. Eyes far apart; weakly bulging laterally; two supraorbital setae over each eye. Antennae pale, though often sporting segments that are half pale brown, and half yellow. Antennal pubescence begins on the second antennomere following the pedicel. Pronotum short, transversally stretched; subcordate; front margin weakly curved inward; front angles obtuse; lateral margins strongly rounded-thinly beaded-hind angles squared; base very weakly constricted; basal margin weakly sinuate. Pronotal margins often faintly orange. Median line thin; the centre of the disk is elevated on either side of the median; lower median and dorsal basal margin depressed, heavily punctate. The front and lateral dorsal margins should be sparsely punctate. Rest of the disk glossy or semi-glossy black, may appear cloudy. Pronotal base barely narrower than the elytral base. Very small scutellum partially exposed. 8 deep, well-defined, thinly pitted striae per elytron, intervals weakly elevated. Laterobasal ridge mostly obscured by the pronotal basal margin; typically only exposed on the humeral angles. Humeral shoulder obtuse; lateral margins relatively rounded, elongated; apices sinuate. Ventral faces semi-matte to matte black; sparsely punctate. Limbs dark to pale reddish to yellow-orange.
