Description: body: elongate-ovate, semi-slender; moderately convex. Dorsal colouration should be glossy, dark red, nearly black; ventral colouration reflects the dorsal colouration, but tends to be slightly less dark. Head smallish, triangular; face very short, compact. The surface of the head should be weakly wrinkled, but otherwise smooth; the frons bears two small dimples, which do not continue onto the clypeus; labrum very small. Eyes very far apart, bulging laterally; two supraorbital setae over each eye. Mandibles curved, rather short; partially obscured by the labrum. Palpi pale. Antennae orange; the first antennomere following the pedicel (segment 3) slightly longer than the scapus; antennal pubescence begins on the second antennomere following the pedicel (segment 4). Pronotum squarish, lateral margins rounded; front margin straight; front angles obtuse; lateral margins rounded, weakly sinuate near the base; hind angles acute. Lateral margins beaded, beading continues onto the front and basal margins, abruptly ending on both just before the median. Pronotal disk mostly smooth; median line shallow, with very small fracture-like occurrences spanning out from it; the dorsal face of the base heavily punctate; two small depressions should be found on either side of the lower median bulge. Scutellum exposed. 7-8 pitted striae per elytron, well-defined; intervals flattish. No additional pubescence or elytral striae present aside from those typically found on the lateral margins. Humeral shoulders obtuse; laterobasal ridge strong, with a minor lip on the angle. Lateral margins rounded, elongated; apices sinuate. No parascutellar pits present in this species. Legs dark reddish.
