Information: can be found among damp leaf litter in forested areas.
Description: body: elongate-ovate, semi-slender. Pronotal shape variable per location; see photos on right. Head narrow, triangular; head smooth, glossy black. Mandibles long, slender: slightly curved at apex. Maxillary palpi long, black with pale tips. Antennae black, weak antennal pubescence begins on the second half of the second antennomere following the pedicel. Eyes do not bulge much, relatively close to head. Pronotum uniformly narrow, either weakly rounded-quadrate, or stretched-cordate. Disk smooth, minor wrinkles fan from well-defined median line, long depressions should be seen on the disk spanning from the hind angles, ending about halfway down the pronotum, narrow. Pronotal disk glossy black. Pronotal margins carinate, surrounding entire disk. Basal margin of the pronotum should not overlap with the base of the elytra, small scutellum exposed. Elytra ovate, widest region about halfway down elytra, or just before apices. Twice, or nearly twice the width of the pronotal disk at widest point. Humeral shoulders rounded, wide. Laterobasal ridges entire. Apices sinuous-truncate, abdominal tip exposed. 8-9 deep striae per elytron, intervals raised, glossy black; no elytral pubescence. Ventral faces glossy black, including legs.
