Distribution; Western USA and Canada
Information: May be found in fields, forested locations, and often associated with freshwater tributaries and lakes. Muddy wetlands along lakes, and dry lake beds are great places to spot the species in Northwestern Oregon.
Description: body: elongate-ovate, slender. Head triangular, face long, head smooth. Eyes large, but close to the head, weakly bugling laterally; two long setae may be seen over each eye. Antennae dark, antennal pubescence begins on the second antennomere following the pedicel. Head may be metallic green, bronze, or dark blue. The clypeus should have one large pit just inside either lateral margin with one long seta protruding from each. Pronotum ovate-circular. Hind angles obtuse, lateral, from, and basal margins upturned, thin. Specimens from Northern Washington and British Columbia often have a noticeably reduced basal margin lip. Front angles acute, weakly rounded towards head; lateral margins rounded, southern Washingtonian and many Oregonian specimens generally have faint rounded-obtuse angled lateral margins, as seen in the second dorsal studio photo. median lind shallow, from which wrinkles fan out laterally. Dorsal disk interior of hind angles impressed, rough. Basal margin of the pronotum should not overlap the scutellum. Humeral angles squared, with rounded tips. Lateral elytral margins rounded, nearly straight; apices slightly sinuate. 7-8 well-defined striae per elytron, intervals flat, metallic, oily blue to iridescent green or green-bronze, pronotal colouration almost always very close to the elytral colouration. The third elytral interval from the elytral suture typically has three or four widely-spaced fovea, which are not always deep. Ventral faces glossy black, femora black, tibiae dark reddish.
